Jojoba Oil for Hair Problems

Although termed an ‘oil’, jojoba is authentically not so.  Instead, it is a golden liquid wax extracted from the seeds of the jojoba plant.  Known as Simmondsia chinensis in Botanical terms, the jojoba plant is native to the Northwest Sonoran Desert in Mexico and southwest United states.  The plant contains thick rubbery leaves bearing flowers without petals that ultimately blossom to a fruit consisting of a single seed.  When these seeds ultimately drop, they are cold pressed for extraction of oil.  Sans triglycerides, the oil is a polyunsaturated waxy liquid, with a light and non-greasy feel, therefore with no possibilities of turning rancid or oxidising.  With a pronunciation of “ho-ho-ba,” this plant, although bears no resemblance to the South American Cinchona tree, is known as quinine nut.  Since the jojoba nuts display similarities to the coffee beans, they are also known as coffee berry.
